Welcome to Life in Sutton Place, a weekly newsletter for people who live in Sutton Place - or plan to live in or visit New York.
In this Issue: We’re focusing on who designed a 4-story townhouse full of art books, what cool fashion exhibit is opening at the Japan Society, how a literary character described the experience of crossing the Queensboro Bridge, and where you can go if you want a thriving life in Sutton Place.
5 things to do
RESTAURANT
1. Attend the Dag Hammarskjold Greenmarket: Take a cue from the centenarians of Okinawa if you want to thrive well into your 80s and beyond. The tiny island off of Japan has the highest concentration of centenarians in the world, with 740 out of 1.3 million people who are over 100 years. They are well-known for their unique diet of root vegetables, especially sweet potatoes, and tofu. You’ll find an excellent variety of organic in-season fruits and vegetables that will help you stay active and vital at the Dag Hammarskjold Greenmarket, a year-round market that supplies ingredients to many local restaurants.
For a unique selection of Japanese and Asian vegetables and roots, such as turmeric and ginger, try Lani’s Farm, an organic farm that used to attend the Dag Hammarskjold Green Market; however, now you can order online or in-person at the Union Square Greenmarket on Monday and Saturday. Dag Hammarskjold Greenmarket , 47th and 2nd Avenue, 8am-3pm every Wednesday.
